Phase equilibria of CH4 and CO2 hydrates formed from aqueous solutions of glutaric acid and malonic acid

We examine the inhibition effects of di-carboxylic acids, glutaric acid and malonic acid, on CH4 and CO2 hydrates.

Shorter carbon chained malonic acid shows a better inhibition effect than longer chained glutaric acid at a same mass fraction.

The inhibition effect of malonic acid is comparable with that of tri-ethylene glycol.
