A new strategy for utilization of NIR from solar energy—Promotion effect generated from photothermal effect of Fe3O4@SiO2 for photocatalytic oxidation of NO

Photothermal effect was first utilized to promote the photocatalytic oxidation of NO under NIR light. Fe3O4@SiO2 absorbed the NIR light and transfered it to thermal energy based on photothermal effect and then accelerated the NO photocatalytic activity of P25. The coating of SiO2 shell enhanced the antioxidation properties of Fe3O4. The addition of Fe3O4@SiO2 enhanced NO conversion capability of common photocatalysts including A TiO2, g-C3N4, ZnO, BiOI and CeO2.
