Stroke patients with left-hemisphere damage (LHD) have impaired prosody perception. Stroke patients with LHD show less pitch variance pitch during emotional speech. Listeners are less accurate at judging emotion of speech from LHD stroke patients. Prosody production success is correlated with aphasia severity and quality of life. Prosody focused rehabilitation should not be disregarded for LHD stroke patients.
