Substantial enhancement of hydrogen permeability and embrittlement resistance of Nb30Ti25Hf10Co35 eutectic alloy membranes by directional solidification
Nb30(Ti, Hf)35Co35 alloys of fully lamellar eutectic structure were fabricated.

Aligned eutectic structure was generated by directional solidification (DS).
•
As-cast Nb30(Ti, Hf)35Co35 were subject to hydrogen embrittlement during permeation.
•
DS Nb30Ti25Hf10Co35 exhibits higher permeability than its as-cast counterpart.
•
DS Nb30Ti25Hf10Co35 exhibits excellent resistance against hydrogen embrittlement.
