A 2D Ti3C2 is introduced into NaAlH4 to improve its hydrogen storage properties.

The NaAlH4-7 wt% Ti3C2 sample exhibits optimal hydrogen storage properties.

The NaAlH4-7 wt% Ti3C2 reversibly stores 4.9 wt% hydrogen below 140 °C.

The Ti3C2-containing samples have good cycling stabilities.

The Ti3C2 reacts with NaAlH4 to form metallic Ti and Ti3+ species during BM.
