New approach is proposed to distinguish between homogeneous and superposed deformation in granites using AMS. Syn-contractional sill array shows zonality of marginal submagmatic (Type I) to internal subsolidus fabrics (Type II). Type I and Type II fabrics are viewed as two end-members of fabric transposition sequence that developed during folding. Our model suggests weakening of the orogenic wedge by coeval emplacement of horizontal and vertical sills in the multilayer.
