There is no well-accepted morphological identification cytotoxicity assay. The development of morphological identification cell cytotoxicity assay (CLFP assay) is described. Cell cytoplasm localized fluorescent probe is used to characterize live cells and dead cells. The performance of the CLFP assay was similar to cell activity assay (MTT assay) for evaluating cell viability. The accuracy of the CLFP assay was superior for measuring the effect of active compounds compared with MTT assay.
