•: An infectious clone, pKS15-01-Clone, of newly emerging strain of SVA was constructed.
•: Cloned virus replicated efficiently in vitro and in vivo.
•: Cloned virus induced similar immunological response as that of parental virus.
•: EGFP-tagged SVA showed impaired replication ability and attenuated pathogenic properties.
•: Lesions on pig snout and coronary bands produced by parental virus, but not by cloned or EGFP-tagged virus.
