We reported an effective method for improving the adsorption of salicylic acid.

We synthesized hydrophobic-hydrophilic PST/PADETA IPNs with medium high BET surface area.

PST/PADETA IPNs had a very large equilibrium capacity to salicylic acid.

PST/PADETA IPNs had a large dynamic capacity to salicylic acid.

PST/PADETA IPNs could be completely regenerated and repeatedly used.
