A novel gel-polymer composite for nucleus pulposus tissue regeneration is proposed. Shear moduli measured via microindentation was comparable to the native tissue. Incorporation of polymer networks enhanced cellular proliferation and permeability. Findings indicate opportunities to tailor toward an suitable regenerative solution.
