The majority of provider respondents were non-psychiatrists and prescribed buprenorphine part-time (<25% of clinical time) to a median 23 patients. Unobserved buprenorphine induction was standard practice among 65% of respondents. Insurance prior authorization requirements, and limited time, space and clinical supports were the most frequently endorsed barriers to prescribing.
