Polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) in sediments/soils of different wetlands along 100-year coastal reclamation chronosequence in the Pearl River Estuary, China
All detected PCB congeners and total PCBs decreased along sediment/soil profiles.
•
Old wetlands tended to have higher PCB concentrations than younger wetlands.
•
The dominant PCB congeners at all sampling sites were light PCB homologues.
•
TEQ concentrations of 10 detected DL-PCBs were mainly affected by PCB126.
•
Higher toxicity risks were found in riparian wetlands sediments.
