Efficiency of six LAB strains to bind BPA in phosphate buffer saline was evaluated. Effects of cell and BPA concentrations, reaction time and temperature were tested. The maximum binding rate of the tested six strains towards BPA was 50.80%. Binding of BPA by these strains was reversible and reached a high level after 15 min. Heat and acid treatments markedly enhanced the stability of bacteria–BPA complexes.
