Both children with early and late type genu recurvatum show an improvement of minimum knee flexion after surgical correction of equinus.
•
In contrast to late type recurvatum, limbs with an early type showed a significant increased minimum knee flexion after equinus correction.
•
Equinus seems to be one of the most important underlying factors in early type recurvatum gait.
•
Further research should focus movement of the trunk, pevis and hip to identify further influencing factors contributing to genu recurvatum.
