Highly stable superhydrophobic fabric was fabricated using PDMS coated SiO2 nanoparticles. The superhydrophobic fabric showed resistance to water-soluble contaminants. The prepared sample selectively absorbed oil while repelling water. It maintained its superhydrophobicity after many times of oil absorption-washing cycles. We showed that the fabric can be used as an effective filter for oil-water separation.
