Effects of providing a full-width ramp between the slats and litter were examined. Behaviours indicative of hesitancy at the downward level-change were recorded. Fewer hens showed hesitancy behaviours when a full-width ramp was provided. More birds moved away without accessing the litter in multi-tier systems.
