Novel Ca3-xAl4ZnO10: xEu3+ phosphor prepared by using solid state reaction method. XRD studies confirm single phase orthorhombic structure with Pbc2 space group. Under n-UV/blue excitation the phosphors are showing bright visible red emission. Calculated CIE coordinates are close to the commercial red phosphor (Y2O2S: Eu3+). Results suggest that this phosphor can be used as red component for RGB w-LEDs.
