Li[Ni0.5Co0.2Mn0.3]O2 cathode material is coated by amorphous 0.035Li2O-BPO4. The lattice parameters of Li[Ni0.5Co0.2Mn0.3]O2 material are not changed after coating. 0.035Li2O-BPO4 coating is positive in improving lithium diffusion ability. The optimum coating content is found to be 2 wt%. 0.035Li2O-BPO4 coating effectively improves cycling performance and rate capability.
