Li chemical potential of LiCoO2 was varied by mechanical stress. The change in Li chemical potential under stress depended on crystal orientation. Deformation of CoO6 interlayer causes the change in Li chemical potential. Elongation/contraction of CoO6 interlayer has an opposite effect.
