ZnO nanowires were grown by CVD and deposited on a contact structure.
•
The H2S-sensing properties of the NWs were investigated by electrical measurements.
•
The role of the flushing gas after the exposure of the sensor to H2S was studied.
•
Oxygen is crucial for the sensing mechanism and necessary to reset the sensor.
•
A very low detection limit of only 50 ppb H2S was achieved.
