A numerical procedure for the pushover analysis of masonry towers

A numerical procedure to perform pushover analysis of masonry towers is presented. Masonry is modeled as a nonlinear brittle and softening material. Nonlinear geometric effects and nonlinear constraints are considered. Benchmarking pushover analyses are performed with the commercial code Abaqus. The procedure turned out to be reliable and to greatly reduce the computing time.
