Effect of diets differing in protein concentration (low vs medium) and nitrogen source (urea vs soybean meal) on in vitro rumen fermentation and on performance of finishing Italian Simmental bulls

文摘
Dietary protein levels and urea inclusion were tested in finishing Simmental bulls. Low protein diets (70–74 g/kg DM of PDI) tended to decrease weight gain. Low protein diets did not affect carcass traits and meat quality. Substituting SBM with urea (0.5% DM) did not depress growth and carcass traits. Diets high in protein or with urea stimulated rumen butyrate yield in vitro.
