We propose an applyication of the multiple discrete continuous model (MDCEV) to the social interactions among socially connected individuals. Characteristics of pairs of social contacts are found to be more relevant than individual socio demographics and dyad-level measures to explain mode and frequency of interaction. A strong preference for face-to-face suggests confirms relevance of social networks for travel.
