Surface analysis and mechanical behaviour mapping of vertically aligned CNT forest array through nanoindentation

Structure and wall numbers are identified through TEM. Static contact angle measurements revealed a super-hydrophobic behavior. Hysteresis was observed (loading–unloading) due to the local stress distribution. Hardness and modulus mapping for a grid of 70 μm2 is conducted. Resistance is clearly divided in 2 regions (MWCNT and MWCNT – MWCNT) interface.
