A series of Pt(IV) prodrugs containing glutamine-like axial ligands is reported. The complexes should exploit the glutamine addiction showed by some cancer cells. A complex of the series seems to be recognized by the glutamine transporters. This selective mechanism could decrease off-target accumulation of Pt drugs.
