La2O3, CeO2, MnO and CaO were identified as four most active metal oxide catalysts. Maximum relative yield of bio-oil was obtained at 1.44 times that without catalyst by using 1.0 wt% CeO2. Phenol compounds, ketone, other aromatic compounds and carboxylic acid were the main compounds in bio-oils produced. Thermal degradation behaviour of bio-oils produced was categorized into three stages of weight loss. Modified Reverchon-Sesti Osseo model was successfully fitted into the kinetic data of bio-oils produced with four most active metal oxides.
