An analytical methodology for the optimal sizing of energy storage is proposed. Different analytical approximations are discussed and compared. A general procedure is identified which takes into account various storage technologies and scenarios. A parametric approach allows identifying the strategy for energy and cost savings. The methodology is verified through numerical applications on an actual test network.
