Most dengue-immune humans have complement-independent enhancing antibody (CiEAb). Dengue-immune humans also have complement-dependent neutralizing antibody (CdNAb). Effect of CiEAb on CdNAb was studied using mouse monoclonal/polyclonal antibodies. CiEAb inhibited the neutralizing activity of CdNAb against four dengue serotypes. CiEAb induced by a dengue vaccine in humans may reduce the protective efficacy.
