Structure and sequence of the ST2-encoding gene from trout was characterised. Teleostean and mammalian ST2 genes share a common ancestry. Trout ST2 localises around the nucleus and allows nuclear translocation of MYD88. ST2 quenches TLR signalling but not through sequestering MYD88 at the cell membrane.
