A model for simulating cotton embryo oil and protein accumulation was developed.

The responses of cotton embryo oil and protein accumulation to temperature, solar radiation, N supply, and water condition were analyzed, respectively.
•
Effect of temperature-radiation was modeled as a function of photo-thermal product.
•
Effect of water stress was modeled as a function of the predawn water potential of functional leaf.
•
The model well explained the observed genotypic and environmental variations in cotton embryo oil and protein accumulation.
