•: We evaluated the effect of thiamine pyrophosphate (PPT) on the biochemical profiles of full-term ischemia rabbit foetuses.
•: Results indicate that PPT avoids alterations in the concentration of foetal glucose during an ischemic period of 15 min.
•: PPT alters some acute and some longer-term biochemical outcomes of uterine ischemia.
•: Biochemical outcomes of uterine ischemia are perhaps important in preserving energy metabolism under hypoxic conditions.
