The evaporation behavior of a distillable ionic liquid [DBNH][OAc] is studied.

The dew points of distillation products from [DBNH][OAc] are measured and modeled.
•
Vapor–liquid equilibrium of water + [DBNH][OAc] systems are measured and modeled.
•
The [DBNH][OAc] is recovered from water solution by agitated thin-film evaporation.
•
The outcome of thin-film evaporation is more complex than a single equilibrium stage.
