Intra and inter-island sea transport major limiting factor for the sustainable development of Pacific Islanders. Lomaiviti selected as representative of Maritime Provinces in the Pacific. Fuel used for local level sea transport heavily underestimated in previous analysis of Pacific Island Countries' transport need and fuel use. Community-based initiatives to look at how fuel is used when determining the priorities for renewable energy projects. Compiling and analysing reliable data on transport need is an essential pre-requisite for determining appropriate solutions for sustainable sea transport.
