Ionic liquid was immobilized on CMVB by copolymerization using AIBN. Microcrystalline cellulose hydrolysis was conducted using dual functional catalyst. Synergistic effect of chloro and sulhponic acid groups present in catalyst. Maximum%TRS yield obtained with 40% IL/CMVB catalyst. Catalyst was recyclable up to three runs with minimum loss in activity.
