An efficient quasi-solid state dye sensitized solar cells based on graphene oxide/gelatin gel electrolyte with NiO supported TiO2 photoanode

For the first time graphene oxide immobilized into gelatin hydrogel was used as the quasi-solid state gel electrolyte for DSSCs. Substituting the conventional TiO2 photoanode with NiO supported TiO2 photoanode which results in the reduction of bandgap in comparison to TiO2. The effect of gel electrolyte in NiO supported TiO2 photoanode is studied in DSSCs for the first time. DSSCs fabricated with NiO@TiO2photoanode (i.e. 5% NiO content) shows maximum PCE of 4.02% with an optimum concentration of 0.1% GO immobilized in gelatin.
