MFC was operated with transient-state regulation to enhance its performance. Effects of the TSR parameters on MFC performance were thoroughly investigated. Long-term operation of MFC in TSR mode allowed 32.7% higher power production. Anode capacitance helped reduce the MFC’s internal impedance in the TSR mode.
