Non-uniform corrosion of different zones of coastal bridge pier is considered. Five possible failure modes of corroded pier in the whole service life were analyzed. A methodology is proposed to identify the time-dependent seismic failure mode. A methodology is proposed to determine the equivalent plastic hinge length.
