Plough tillage stimulated N mineralisation more than ripper tillage. Maize N uptake under the ripper tillage was 13–23% less than with plough tillage. Mulch incorporation with ploughing decreased N mineralisation and crop N uptake. Adding N in fertiliser and manure increased maize yields and is key for production.
