A genome-wide identification of SSRs was firstly performed in the genome of Apis cerana and 209,991 SSRs were found. The distribution and organization of SSRs in the Apis cerana genome were analyzed by comparion with Apis mellifera. The valuable SSRs makers for A.cerana were acquired to evaluate the genetic diversity of Chinese honeybees colonies.
