The mechanisms within the nature connection-eudaimonia relationship are unknown. Using Self Determination Theory, we identify two potential mechanisms. Firstly, satisfying the psychological need of relatedness via nature connection. Secondly, fostering intrinsic value orientations hence promoting mental wellbeing. Understanding mechanisms can inform the design and delivery of urban nature.
