Effect of nano TiN/Ti refiner addition content on the microstructure and properties of as-cast Al-Zn-Mg-Cu alloy

The TiN/Ti refiner is firstly used to improve the microstructures and mechanical property of Al-Zn-Mg-Cu alloy.

•

Fully fine grains and secondary phases were obtained by addition of 0.5 wt.% TiN/Ti.

•

Three kinds of secondary phases are found in Al-Zn-Mg-Cu alloy independent of TiN/Ti.

•

Tensile strength and Vickers hardness were obviously improved with 0.5wt.% TiN/Ti.
