Catalytic ozonation of Orange-G through highly interactive contributions of hematite and SBA-16 - To better understand azo-dye oxidation in nature

Hematite and SBA-16 silica showed synergy in the ozonation of orange-G in water. Phenyl ring hydroxylation and desulfonation and azo bridge hydration are involved. Acidic pH promotes hematite dissolution into Fe3+ and adsorption on SBA-16 silica. Fe3+ act as catalyst in both dispersed and adsorbed forms around Si-OH groups.
