Soil organic C and N were successfully estimated in independent transects using vis-NIR data A genetic algorithm increased estimation accuracies in the cross-validations, but generally not in the validations. Few enzyme activities could be estimated in independent transects using vis-NIR data. Enzyme activities, however, were estimated with similar accuracy from laboratory data.
