A mechanical model is established for the casing behavior under local loads. A Fourier series analytic solution is obtained. Effects of local loads and casing dimension on the casing failure are discussed. The results successfully illustrate the casing failure in shale gas well. Some suggestions are put forward for casing design in shale gas well.
