3D transient multi-physical modelling of the feed rod melting described in detail. Obtained feed rod shape is nearly axisymmetric except for the case without rotation. Configuration of the inductor slits affects the shape of the open melting front. Quasi-stationary state of the feed rod melting is reached in several revolutions.
