Successful academic supervision is dependent on a strong student-supervisor relationship Students become frustrated and disheartened if faced with inconsistent or inadequate supervision HEI's need to put in place policies and frameworks to ensure consistency and parity of academic supervision. Further research is required to explore the role and effectiveness of the academic supervisor role
