•: GE180 glass cells showed wall relaxation times for hyperpolarized (HP) <sup>129sup>Xe > 20 h.
•: Storage time (m>Tm><sub>1sub>) of HP <sup>129sup>Xe was prolonged to ca. 9 h by adding an equal amount of CO<sub>2sub>.
•: This gas mixture was successfully transported over 220 km using a magnetic box.
