Habitat-specific AMF symbioses enhance drought tolerance of a native Kenyan grass

Arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) affect how plants respond to drought stress. We found that AMF habitat of origin affected plant response to drought. Plants inoculated with AMF from termite mounds tolerated drought better than plants inoculated with AMF from off-mound. Over a longer time period AMF from both origins produced more biomass than uninoculated plants.
