An undamped nonlinear system of two degrees of freedom is analyzed. A decoupling procedure is considered using admissible functional transformations. By nonlinear asymptotic approximations the equation is reduced to a nonlinear ODE. Exact analytic solutions are derived for the damped system model of two masses. An application has been given of a two mass system with cubic strong non-linearity.
