NIP-SNAP-1 and -2 bind to HSP60 and P62/SQSTM1. NIP-SNAPs localize mitochondria inner membrane space, and also outer membrane. HSP60 prevents the aggregation of newly-synthesized NIP-SNAPs in vitro. NIP-SNAP-1 and -2 protein levels in cells are decrease by HSP60 knockdown.
